Transexual vs. Transsexual
Transsexual - A person who identifies psychologically as a gender/sex other than the one to which they were assigned at birth. Transsexuals often wish to transform their bodies hormonally and surgically to match their inner sense of gender/sex. Transsexual with two s's is the official term used by medical establishments and in dictionaries.
Transexual - Transexual with one s is most often used by activists to signify a reclaiming of the term transsexual from the medical establishment.
