A website on lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender history: It's About Time!

OutHistory.org is directed by historian Jonathan Ned Katz, coordinated by Lynley Wheaton, and produced by The Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies at the City University of New York Graduate Center. It is funded in 2007-2008 by a grant from the Arcus Foundation]. For more about OutHistory.org, see About.


Content To date, OutHistory has 2,488 articles. The content of this site is solicited from and volunteered by researchers and scholars.


As an experiment in history by the people, content is provided by anyone with data and citations to share. To contribute data and citations see Participate which explains how to create entries, submit documents and citations, and offer research help, copyediting, administrative, graphic design, and other skills.


All users can also explore the site and comment on it using the "Discuss" option on the top bar. Users can comment on a particular entry by using the "Discuss” section of that entry.


Users can also search Stub Categories (a list of all entries for which there is no or little content) or search Stub Articles. Users may also search Research Requests, and provide the desired information.
