OutHistory.org is directed by historian Jonathan Ned Katz, coordinated by Lynley Wheaton, and produced by The Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies at the City University of New York Graduate Center. The content of this site is solicited from and volunteered by researchers and scholars.
As an experiment in history by the people, all users can explore the site and comment on it using the "Discuss" option on the Main Page top bar. Users can comment on a particular entry by using the "Discuss” section of that entry.
Site content is also provided by anyone with data and citations to share. To contribute data, citations, and edits see Participate which explains how to create entries, submit documents and citations, and offer help with research copyediting, administration, graphic design, etc.
Users can also search Stub Categories (a list of all entries for which there is no or little content) and begin to fill them in. Users can also search Stub Articles. Users may also search Research Requests, and provide the desired information.
