Dear Charlie:--

So sorry to hear you are done up. I hope, however, you are well again by this time. Enclosed is the Ex. Co. receipt for the package of clean things sent by William as you left word. Perhaps someone is wearing them for you now.

Crowds, crowds, nothing but crowds now. The weight of the mass of people on the soul of the spectator is enormous.

I haven't seen Joe Strong since you went away.
