As an experiment in history by the the people, some of the content of OutHistory.org is user-generated by anyone with data or documents and source citations to share. Content is also solicited from or volunteered by independent scholars, institutionally-based researchers, archivists, collectors, and the public.


Users are encouraged to participate in creating the site, following the site’s Contributors’ Guidelines. So help OutHistory.org make history.

Ways to Participate

* Create New Articles:

* Create New Stubs: Users can also create new stub categories, suggestions for entries for which there is no or little content. And, if users desire, they can begin to fill in the new stub article.

* Create New Timeline Entries:

* Create New Timeline Stubs: Users can suggest or add a timeline stub.
