In Germany, in 1880, in a book Discovery of the Soul, by a zoologist,  Gustav Jäger, Karl Maria Kertbeny's word heterosexual is used publicly for the first time.  Kertbeny had contributed a chapter to the book arguing for the decriminalization of homosexuality, but the book's publisher decided it was too controversial and omitted it. Karl-Maria Kertbeny's word heterosexual is used publicly for the first time, in Germany, in 1880, in a book titled Discovery of the Soul, by a zoologist, Gustav Jäger. Earlier, Kertbeny had contributed a chapter to the book arguing for the decriminalization of homosexuality, but the book's publisher decided it was too controversial and omitted it.
