Jump to navigationJump to searchThe Baltimore Sun reports an entertainment and dance at the Maryland Insane Hospital at which a young lady wore pants, declared that she was a man, and was "very attentive to the ladies."
- A CRAZY PEOPLE’S HOP. – The harmless inmates of the Maryland Insane Hospital, near Catonsville, were treated to private theatricals, songs, piano music, readings, and a hop on Saturday evening, in which innocent amusement they greatly enjoyed themselves, and were much benefited. Some of their friends were present by invitation. The ball, or hop, was most enjoyed. Conspicuous among the dancers was a young lady who insists upon wearing pantaloons and long hair, and who declares she is a man. She will not answer unless addressed as Mr., and at the hop was very attentive to the ladies.[1]
