Eddie Dugan's Bistro opened in June 1973 at 420 N. Dearborn in Chicago. It set the stage for the GLBT disco scene there. Dugan was born Edward L. Davison, Jr. in Chicago in 1944. He moved to New York City and worked for a while as a window dresser. Later on he moved back to Chicago and worked as a bartender in several places around town.

Dugan was a supporter of many GLBT organizations, such as Gay Horizons (precursor of Center on Halsted)[1] and the HRC. In 1974 he invested in the Marlin Beach Hotel in Fort Lauderdale.

The Bistro closed in 1982 and Dugan ended up opening Paradise at 2828 N. Broadway in 1984 and Bistro Too at 5015 N. Clark in 1986.
