First Southeastern Gay Conference at UNC-CH, 30-31 March, 01 April 1976

The gay students at The University of North Carolina sponsored and organized the first Southeastern Gay Conference from Friday 30 March to Sunday 1 April 1976. 11 attendees came from Florida. This conference inspired Florida to do a conference. Lambda 76, students from University of Tampa, University of Florida, Florida University, and Orlando Junior College organized and sponsored the first Gay Conference in Florida at the Orlando Junior College on Memorial Day weekend in 1976. UNC gay students followed up with the Second Annual Gay Conference in 1977 at UNC in Chapel Hill, NC. The following year, 1978, the conference was held in Atlanta, GA. In 1979 it came back to UNC-CH.
